I am so excited to share that my little side hustle has been selected from 3500 entries from across Australia as a finalist in the Event category for the Australian Woman’s Small Business Champions Award.

A red carpet gala event will be held in Sydney at the Fullerton Hotel on the 27th September and my bags are packed already 😉

The national finalist position is particularly significant because it follows a deliberate decision to look beyond the local awards circuit and test the business against a much broader field.

The Australian Women’s Small Business Awards celebrate outstanding women in small businesses placing my regional Events business firmly on a national stage. It’s about showing what’s possible for a regional business when you are willing to back yourself and step onto a bigger stage.

Of course the success of this event relies heavily on the support from our community. Without the business and visitors to the expo this wouldn’t be possible.

Thank you to everyone involved, my family and close friends. What an absolute honour to be even a finalist.

Use a car for work? 🚗

You can claim a deduction for work-related trips as long as you have a record to prove it. There’s no 'maximum kms with no records' rule - that’s fake news.

You’ll need to show that you own or lease the car, that you spent the money yourself and weren’t reimbursed, and how you’ve calculated your work-related kilometres. The easiest ways are to keep a diary or use the myDeductions tool in our app.

Work out your deduction using one of the 2 methods per car - Cents per km or Logbook method.
