That's one of the recurring bookkeeping questions that catches people out at audit time, not before. The ATO wants a proper tax invoice for anything over $82.50, showing the ABN, GST amount, and description, so a bank line item alone doesn't cut it.
Other common ones: how often to actually reconcile, and whether a "near enough" categorisation is good enough (it isn't, if you want your margin numbers to mean anything).
None of these are beginner questions. They're the questions that matter most, and most people never get a straight answer to them.
