Atypical Accounts is a Brisbane based firm providing a wide range of tax, accounting & bookkeeping services across Australia. We work with a range of different clients but have a very strong focus on helping those who are neurodiverse, living with mental illness or other disabilities. Tax can seem overwhelming at the best of times, but when you are also managing your health it's easy for tax to fe
el impossible. Feeling overwhelmed by tax lodgements and knowing that you are behind can take a huge toll on mental health. When you have pre-existing conditions, tax often takes the back seat in your life until it has eventually piled up & it seems like you'll never catch up. When it gets to this stage, people are often afraid to approach an accountant for help as they don't want to be judged on their situation. The idea of many phone calls and meetings in office environments can be an added deterrent and the more years you fall behind, the harder it is to ask for help. We aim to go above & beyond for all of our clients and offer a variety of communication methods so that you can choose what works best for you. We understand that it can often be difficult to make time for appointments or phone calls, and to assist with this we predominantly work via email unless you request otherwise. We don't believe in forcing meetings or phone calls that may interrupt your day, so we allow you to decide how you would like to work. If you do prefer meetings but aren't local to us, we also offer remote video consultations. Kayleigh, our managing director and Accountant, is neurodiverse herself and will happily accommodate to your needs without judgement. All of us have different needs and preferences, and we believe in catering to these as much as possible. Our aim is to work differently and encourage our clients to be open with us, so that we can assist to reduce anxiety wherever possible! If verbal or in-person communication is not something you are comfortable with, then you can choose to communicate via email instead, without compromising on quality of service (we prefer it too!). If you are coming onboard as a new client & prefer written communication, the only exception to this will be a 5-10 minute video call, which is legally required to verify your identity. If you do prefer to meet in person, you can rest assured that you will be avoiding the waiting rooms and large office environments, as you can choose to meet at your own home or at our home office.
