Do you want to increase your profit for the new financial year?

If so, you need to understand how to look at your profit & loss report. Do you review it on a monthly basis? You should be. If you want to make profit you need to look at the tool in your software that tells you how much profit you make - the profit & loss report.

My business is about teaching you how to be financially savvy in business. We are all worried about cost of living pressures, so we need to make more money and save on costs. How can you do that in business? You need to review your 5 largest cost items, see if you are getting value for money and if you can get them cheaper. You can also need to make sure your pricing is a good mark up from your cost base.

This is what I will teach you. We sit down, one on one and brainstorm your business. We look at the profit & loss for FY26 and see how it could have been better. You set goals for FY27 to increase your profit.

One off training, suited to you, aimed at making you more financially savvy when it comes to your business. And all in words you understand, not confusing accounting jargon. I have 30 years of business experience to draw on.

I am passionate about helping people.

I worked for years in big companies, where the priority was making profit for the shareholders. I felt disappointed with the lack of encouragement, thanks and mentoring offered to staff.

My business is a place where caring for individuals is at the heart of what I do. Mentoring & coaching people to be more financially successful in their businesses. Empowering them with greater confidence, knowledge and tools.

I don't believe this kind of help is easy to find. We have bookkeepers who enter your transactions and accountants, who manage your taxes.

My business is about partnering with business owners to teach them how to maximise profits & manage cash efficiently. One off training and coaching at an affordable price.

What is the inspiration behind your business?

Are you busy in your business, but when you look at your bank account balance it's not what you expected?

There are a couple of things at play here:

1. The profit you are making. To generate cash, you need to be making a profit.

2. The timing of cash coming in from customers & the timing of your payments to suppliers & the tax office.

I can help improve your cash balance by:

1. Reviewing your profit & loss with you to see if you are making adequate profit. If not, we can discuss strategies to improve income and/or reduce costs

2. Reviewing your cash cycle. I can do an analysis to determine the timing of cash coming in and going out of your business. Together we can develop a plan so that you maximise the cash in your bank at any time.

It's easy - I have the accounting expertise & you have the business expertise. Together we can make changes for you for the better.

It's simple, practical & affordable advice.

Feel free to message me here if you are interested, would like a quote or have any questions.

All the best, Karen

My colleague told me about the Telstra petrol discount and I decided to google and discover what else was out there that I didn't know about. Turns out there are a lot of options for saving money on petrol.

When times are tough in business its good to think about cutting costs or how you can create more revenue. For eg. if you have spare room in your delivery truck, why not offer it to another business? You will both save on petrol & delivery costs.

We can review your business financials and help you identify where you can cut costs and help your business survive.

The Tax Office are changing the rules about when employers must pay their employee's superannuation.

This change takes effect on 1 July 2026.

Currently superannuation must be paid by the 28th day of the month following the end of the quarter.

The new superannuation rules are called PAYDAY SUPER.

From 1 July 2026, employers are to pay their employee's superannuation on the same day that their payroll is paid. Super must be received by super funds within 7 days of payday.

Are you ready?

You can get information from the Tax Office website using this link -
https://www.ato.gov.au/businesses-and-organisations/super-for-employers/payday-super

This will impact your payroll processes and cashflow. We can set up the new process for your business & give your team training. We can also help you see the impact on your cashflow.

I am passionate about helping people, so what can I suggest for business owners in these industries?

Construction - 49% of businesses failed due to making losses, inadequate cashflow & poor strategic management. I have heard that the cost of materials has increased in the construction game. So, how do you stay profitable? Make sure you do a calculation of costs for each job and quote a price that includes the profit you need. Get 3 quotes on materials & subcontractors to get the lowest cost. Ask for deposits or instalments from your customers based on work completed rather than waiting until the job is finished to invoice.

Accommodation / Food Services - 54% of businesses failed for the same reasons as Construction. The cost of living is a challenge for everyone, so perhaps people are travelling less to save money, or like me, do you want to get away as a stress relief? On the plus side, perhaps people will travel more in Australia to save money, rather than travelling overseas. Petrol prices will now also have an impact on travel so it's good to be creative & flexible to make sure you are still getting sales. Business people still need to travel - perhaps you could target business conferences. What other businesses can you align with to get more sales - catering? parties? conferences? Think about the business industries that are successful right now - AI and digital businesses could have money available to spend on employees.

Its critical to have a cashflow forecast to make sure you are staying afloat. In just a few hours, I could show you how to set up a cashflow forecast for your business in Excel.

Let's Talk About the Tax Office

The key taxes that businesses pay are:

1. GST
2. Income tax

If you have to pay GST in your BAS, it means you a making a profit, which is a good thing! Your BAS payments largely represent GST you collect from your customers.

Income tax is a share of the profit you make on your business. You may need to make instalment payments in your BAS payments, rather than paying annually when you do your tax return.

Both of these taxes represent money you should have already received. That's why the tax office expects you to have the funds to pay immediately.

If you don't have the money, you are spending money that you should be putting aside for the tax office.

We can help you create a cashflow plan for your business in Excel. Wouldn't it be nice to no longer stress about calls with the tax office?
