⏰Year End ATO Reporting Reminders for Employers⏰

Finalisation Declaration through Single Touch Payroll (STP)

A reminder to all employers reporting through Single Touch Payroll (STP)—which should be all employers unless an exemption or deferral applies—that you need to finalise payroll information for the 2024/25 financial year by lodging an STP Finalisation Declaration with the ATO by 14 July 2025. The finalisation declaration can be completed once the STP information for all employees is confirmed as correct.

Employers that finalise through STP are not required to provide payment summaries to employees or lodge a payment summary annual report with the ATO. Employees can access their payroll information for their 2025 tax return through a registered tax agent or their myGov account.

We will be in touch shortly with our payroll clients regarding the completion of their finalisation declaration. Should you require any further assistance, please contact our office.

Reminder of Superannuation Guarantee (SG) Rate Increase

Employers are reminded that the SG obligation for the 1 April 2025 to 30 June 2025 quarter is due by 28 July 2025.

If the correct amount of SG is not paid by an employer on time, they will be liable to pay the SG charge, which includes a penalty and interest component.

The SG rate is scheduled to increase again to 12% from 1 July 2025. Please ensure your payroll systems are updated accordingly at the start of the new income year.

Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR)

Businesses that make payments to contractors in certain industries—such as building and construction, cleaning, courier and road freight, IT services, or security—are required to lodge a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) with the ATO.

The TPAR for the 2024/25 financial year is due by 28 August 2025. This report outlines the total payments made to each contractor, including their ABN and GST amounts, where applicable.

We recommend reviewing your records early to ensure all contractor details are accurate and complete. If you are unsure whether TPAR applies to your business or need assistance preparing the report, please reach out to our office.

WorkCover Certification (Wage Declaration)

Most businesses that employ staff are required to complete an annual wage declaration for WorkCover (or your state’s workers compensation authority). This declaration is used to calculate your WorkCover premium and must report actual wages paid for the 2024/25 financial year and estimated wages for the 2025/26 year.

The due date and requirements vary depending on your state or territory, but generally, declarations are due by 31 August 2025. It’s essential to ensure your payroll records are accurate and complete to avoid underreporting or penalties.

We will assist our payroll clients with preparing and lodging their WorkCover declarations. If you would like support in completing your wage declaration or are unsure of your obligations, please contact our office.
