Selling a property doesn’t automatically mean you’ll owe tax, but it can still create a tax reporting obligation.

I see a lot of people assume that once settlement is done, that’s the end of it.

It’s not.

The ATO has just revealed it’s following up 6,000 property sales where no tax return was lodged after the sale.

Property tax rules can be confusing, and the consequences of getting it wrong, or not lodging at all, can be costly.

So if you’ve sold an investment property in the last few years, now is a good time to check you’ve done everything you need to.

Comment “BUCKET” for the full video! Why are accountants paying so much attention to bucket companies right now? There are two proposed changes to discretionary trusts that could have a BIG impact:
1️⃣ A 30% minimum tax on discretionary trust distributions
2️⃣ No tax credit for bucket companies
And this is where things get interesting… because the same income could effectively be taxed TWICE!
