An increase to the National Minimum Wage and most minimum award wages takes effect from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2022.

The National Minimum Wage will increase by $40 per week, which amounts to an increase of 5.2%.

Minimum award wages will increase by 4.6%, which is subject to a minimum increase for adult award classifications of $40 per week and based on a 38-hour week for a full-time employee.

Other award wages, including junior, apprentice and supported wages that are based on adult minimum wages, will get a proportionate increase.

REMINDER: Minimum rates in 10 awards in the aviation, hospitality and tourism industries will increase from 1 October 2022. The rates for these awards will be updated closer to their start date.
