Todays jobs numbers show that, although the unemployment rate is constant, jobs that were added were PART-TIME, while FULL-TIME jobs decreased in Canada.
Average Hourly Wage rose to 5.1% showing that employees are working longer hours.
Labour Market - Positive for rate cuts
Wage Growth - Negative for rate cuts
NET - Slightly positive for rate cuts
What the BoC will likely say (if they spoke today)
“Labour market continues to ease.”
“Wage growth remains elevated and inconsistent with price stability.”
“We need more evidence inflation is sustainably moving to 2%.”
That’s classic wait‑and‑see language.
