Future Proof Citywide Miami Beach 🌴☀

Yes the major theme of the conference was AI but human connections cannot be replaced!

What a pleasure it was to share this great conference on the beach with one of my mentors Allen Byrns, his son Alexi Byrns and my good friend Tyler Veriker.

It took me a while to convince my fellow New-Brunswickers to attend Future Proof with me...I think they will be back soon!

It was great to make new connections and see friends from past conferences!

Now back to the Snow for a few weeks!

Sharing stories and listening to the national anthem beside Canadian icon Ron MacLean, was a moment I’ll never forget.

Hockey has taken me on an incredible journey — from attending three NHL camps and appearing on a TV reality show, to playing and traveling throughout the United States, France, Norway, Sweden, Scotland, and the United Kingdom. Each step has given me unforgettable experiences.

But this past weekend was something truly special.

Getting the opportunity to play in Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada — right here in Moncton, where my career began with the Wildcats — was a true trip down memory lane. What made it even more meaningful was having my daughter and her hockey team in the stands, cheering me on. FYI: They were quite critical of my performance, I didn't skate hard enough and missed too many scoring chances! 😊

Grateful for every chapter hockey has given me — and especially grateful for this one. 🏒❤️

💡 Why is it so hard to stick to your resolutions?
I came across an article in The Globe and Mail by Sam Sivarajan that really made me think. According to UCLA psychologist Hal Hershfield, when we think about our “future self”, our brain treats it like… a stranger! 🤯

In other words: saving for retirement or planning long-term goals feels like doing something for someone you barely know. No wonder we lose motivation!

👉 The trick? Make your future self feel real. Visualise them, give them a story, a face. The more real they seem, the more your decisions today will change.

So, are you ready to invest in your future self—or keep saving for a stranger? 😉
