What a night! ✨

Tonight I had the honour of attending the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton's Business Excellence Awards as a finalist in the Solopreneur category, presented by ACCOR.

A huge congratulations to Kathryn Basham and Bright & Brine Fine Art Gallery on taking home the award, so well deserved! And to my fellow finalists, Hello Gender Inclusive Communication and TD Leadership Co. Inc., it was a privilege to be recognized alongside you.

Being named a finalist in Bay Tide Cloud Bookkeeping's first full year is something I'll always be proud of. It's a reminder of why I started: to help local business owners understand their numbers, raise the profile of professional bookkeeping, and give back to the community.

Thank you to my clients, my CPB Canada community, my family, and everyone who sent kind messages. This glass award is going right on my desk as motivation for the year ahead. 💙

Tonight I'm heading to the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton's Business Excellence Awards as a finalist in the Solopreneur category, presented by ACCOR.

When I started Bay Tide Cloud Bookkeeping in July 2025, the goal was simple: help local business owners truly understand their numbers, elevate the bookkeeping profession, and do it all in a cloud-based, paperless way that supports Moncton and Atlantic Canada.

Being recognized alongside such inspiring solo business owners is an honour. Congratulations to my fellow finalists:

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation | Orange Shirt Day

Today, Bay Tide Cloud Bookkeeping pauses to honour the children who never came home from residential schools, the Survivors, and their families and communities.

Every Child Matters. Wearing orange is a starting point, not the finish line. Reconciliation means continuing to listen, learn, and act all year.

We recognize that we live and work in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people.

Some ways to take part today and beyond:
📖 Read the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action
🎧 Listen to Survivors' stories and learn the history of residential schools in Canada
🛍️ Support Indigenous-owned businesses, artists, and organizations here in New Brunswick
🧡 Learn about Phyllis Webstad and the story behind the orange shirt

If today brings up difficult feelings for you, the Indian Residential School Survivors and Family Crisis Line is available 24/7 at 1-866-925-4419.

It’s easy to feel frustrated by current cross-border political rhetoric and trade tensions between Canada and the United States.
This September 11, I am reminded of what truly anchors this relationship.
I still remember the fear of that day in 2001. It didn't feel like watching a distant neighbor; it felt like a close friend was under attack.
The response was immediate. Operation Yellow Ribbon wasn't just a logistical policy—it was a display of solidarity. Canadians opened their airspace, their communities, and their homes without hesitation. We stepped up because that is simply what you do when a friends house is on fire.

Today, an entire generation of young poeple, in Canada and the U.S. has no memory of 9/11. For them, it exists as history. Yet understanding that moment—and its aftermath—is critical. It defined the global security, economic, and border frameworks we navigate today. More importantly, it demonstrated what our two nations look like at their absolute best: bound by shared values, mutual reliance, and quiet, decisive leadership.

Right now, America is navigating a complex internal crisis driven by political polarization. It can make our closest ally feel distant and unfamiliar.

But political cycles, administrations, and trade disputes are temporary. The fundamental bond between our countries—built over decades of integrated economies, joint defense, and deep personal ties—is permanent.

Last night the town of Riverview lit up their sign in honor of my grandson Jason and for Lisscencephaly awareness.
Lisscencephaly is a rare group of brain disorders where the normal folds and grooves of the brain are missing or reduced, making the surface look smooth. This happens between weeks 12 and 24 of pregnancy. Children experience developmental delays, epilepsy and feeding issues.
There is no cure so treatment focuses on managing seizures with medication, physical
therapy and feeding tubes.

Say hello to our little guy Jason who is 8 years
old!

Huge news for Bay Tide Cloud Bookkeeping!

I am beyond honored and thrilled to share that Bay Tide Cloud Bookkeeping has been named a Finalist for the 2026 Business Excellence Awards hosted by the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton! 🌊💼

Being recognized in the Solopreneur category is such a humbling milestone. To have that hard work recognized by our local business community means the world to me.

A massive thank you to:
My incredible clients — Thank you for trusting me with your business finances and allowing me to be a part of your growth journey. This wouldn't be possible without you!

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton — Thank you for this honor and for continuously supporting local entrepreneurs.

I'm looking forward to celebrating alongside all the other amazing finalists at the Awards Gala on Wednesday, October 21st at the Moncton Coliseum! 🥂✨
