We understand the concerns surrounding the new canoes sold at the co-op, and weโ€™re committed to addressing them. Weโ€™re pleased to share that the first communities have been visited, with very positive results.

Our commitment to safety and quality remains a priority. As these canoes are handmade, we continue to work closely with our supplier to ensure they meet the needs of our communities. The canoe construction process has also been improved to prevent the issues from reoccurring.

Thereโ€™s still work to do, and our team will continue visiting other communities to address the remaining concerns. Weโ€™re encouraged by the progress so far and remain committed to implementing the repairs to all effected canoes in all communities.

ANNUAL FUEL PRICE UPDATE

Effective October 1, 2026, the gasoline price will be $2.78/L

Why are prices higher this year?
The global fuel markets continue to face challenges related to fuel supply, transportation and changing market conditions. These factors are contributing to higher fuel costs worldwide and are also impacting the cost of supplying to Nunavik. Moreover, the cost of transportation is also impacted and have significantly increased within the last 6 months adding to the increase.

In an effort to lower this impact on the consumers, take note that the excise tax suspension has been extended until the beginning of 2027.

KRG Gas Subsidy

In an effort to offset this important increase for Nunavimmiut, the KRG gas subsidy as of October 1st 2026 will be increase from $0,78 to $1,00/per liter. This subsidy amount applies to beneficiaries only and to gasoline only.

Pourquoi les prix sont-ils plus รฉlevรฉs cette annรฉe?
Les marchรฉs mondiaux du carburant continuent de faire face ร  des dรฉfis liรฉs ร  lโ€™approvisionnement en carburant, au transport et ร  lโ€™รฉvolution des conditions du marchรฉ. Ces facteurs contribuent ร  lโ€™augmentation des coรปts du carburant ร  lโ€™รฉchelle mondiale et ont รฉgalement une incidence sur les coรปts dโ€™approvisionnement au Nunavik. De plus, les coรปts de transport ont รฉgalement รฉtรฉ touchรฉs et ont considรฉrablement augmentรฉ au cours des six derniers mois, contribuant ainsi ร  cette hausse.

Afin de rรฉduire lโ€™impact de cette hausse sur les consommateurs, veuillez noter que la suspension de la taxe dโ€™accise a รฉtรฉ prolongรฉe jusquโ€™au dรฉbut de 2027.

Subvention de la KRG pour lโ€™essence
Afin de compenser cette importante hausse pour les Nunavimmiut, la subvention de la KRG pour lโ€™essence passera de 0,78 $ ร  1,00 $ par litre ร  compter du 1er octobre 2026. Cette subvention sโ€™applique uniquement aux bรฉnรฉficiaires et ร  lโ€™essence.

Federal Fuel Excise Tax Suspension Extended

Following a federal government announcement, the existing suspension of the federal excise tax on certain fuels has been extended until January 31, 2027, inclusively.

This is not an additional measure or new charge. The current suspension will simply remain in effect for an extended period.

What does this mean and how does it impact me? The federal excise tax remains suspended on:

Gasoline: 10ยข per litre
Motor diesel: 4ยข per litre

How long will the suspension remain in effect?

La mise ร  jour annuelle des prix prendra effet le 1er octobre 2026, plutรดt que le 1er septembre.

Ce changement vise ร  รฉtablir un cycle de tarification plus uniforme et pratique pour nos opรฉrations et nos clients. ร€ lโ€™avenir, le 1er octobre deviendra la nouvelle date de mise ร  jour annuelle des prix.

Pourquoi ce changement?

Une meilleure planification
Le report de la mise ร  jour des prix au mois dโ€™octobre donnera ร  nos รฉquipes plus de temps pour finaliser les informations sur les prix et se prรฉparer pour la saison ร  venir.

Un cycle de tarification plus uniforme
Lโ€™รฉtablissement du 1er octobre comme date annuelle de mise ร  jour permettra de crรฉer un รฉchรฉancier clair et prรฉvisible pour les futures mises ร  jour des prix ร  travers le Nunavik.

Les prix des produits pรฉtroliers pour 2026 resteront en vigueur jusquโ€™au 30 septembre. Les nouveaux prix annuels entreront en vigueur le 1er octobre 2026.
