Many BC homeowners receive their property tax notice and pay the bill right away, but forget one important step: claiming the Property Tax Grant.

If you're eligible, the grant can reduce the amount of property tax you need to pay. The key thing to remember is that paying your property taxes does NOT automatically apply for the grant. You must claim it separately.

A few quick reminders:• Check your property tax notice carefully.• Claim your grant before the deadline.• Even if your mortgage company pays your property taxes, you may still need to claim the grant yourself.• Missing the deadline could result in penalties or losing the benefit.

If you've recently received your property tax notice, take a few minutes today to make sure you've completed both steps: claim your grant and pay your property taxes.
