Quick tax update for our business-owner friends 📋
Paying the CRA just got a lot easier:
✅ The CRA now accepts Apple Pay, Google Pay and Konek — pay right from your phone.
✅ Manage Balance for Businesses — if your business carries a payroll, GST/HST or corporate tax balance, you can now arrange a payment plan online in My Business Account, without calling collections. (It's owner-only — your accountant can't do this one for you.)

💡 Tax Tip Tuesday

October payroll remittances are due November 15.

New and regular-remitter employers have to remit October's CPP, EI, and income tax deductions to the CRA by the 15th of the following month. Small catch: November 15 is a Sunday this year, so a remittance received on Monday, November 16 still counts as on time.

Late remittances draw CRA penalties — so get it done early in the week.

Thursday Tax Update 🧾

Big tax talk in BC this week: ahead of the Oct 24 provincial vote, the BC Conservatives are promising to raise the provincial basic personal amount from $13,216 to $32,000 — which they say would save eligible workers about $1,000 a year.

A quick heads-up from your local Vancouver CPA team: this is a campaign promise, not a done deal. Nothing changes on your return until after the election, so no need to redo your tax planning just yet.

The one deadline that IS real: Q3 GST/HST returns (Jul–Sep) for quarterly filers are due Oct 31, 2026. Since Oct 31 lands on a Saturday this year, play it safe and get it filed the week before.

Quarterly GST/HST filers — your Q3 return (July–September) is due October 31.

CRA requires the return one month after quarter-end, and you must file even when it’s a nil return. Miss the deadline and penalties and interest apply.
