Are you still climbing a ladder you’ve already conquered?

It’s so easy to get caught up in the daily grind that we forget to look down and see how far we’ve actually come. We talk to people all the time who have hit their financial goals, but they're still working long hours because stopping feels scarier than continuing.

Don't miss the beach just because you're used to the storm. Take a breath, check your numbers, and see if it's time to finally enjoy what you've built. 🌴

If you could step off the ladder tomorrow, what's the very first thing you'd do?

I talk to so many executives who are ready to finally walk away from the corporate grind, but they’re stuck holding a 'no exit plan' sign just like the guy in this photo.

It hurts to see people spend 20+ years building an amazing career, only to leave serious cash on the table when they retire. Whether it's unvested stock options, messy tax timing, or leaving right before a bonus hits—winging your exit is expensive. You deserve to step away on your own terms, with every dollar you've earned sitting safely in your bank account.

If you were going to leave corporate tomorrow, what’s the first financial loose end you'd need to tie up? Let me know in the comments! 👇

That new car smell vs. the feeling of retiring five years early.

We all love a nice ride, but the reality of leasing a brand new luxury car usually comes with a mile-long receipt of fees and depreciation. On the flip side, picking up a solid 3-year-old used car is one of the easiest ways to keep your cash freed up for investing.

It’s all about choices! Would you rather have the flashy car today, or the relaxed driveway with a growing retirement account tomorrow? Drop your vote in the comments!

The financial world can be a lot to digest.

Jane from Delta recently shared how Tyler helped break her plan down into bite-sized, easy-to-understand pieces. Knowing someone has your best interests at heart changes everything about how you look at the future.

Don't let a generic online calculator tell you when you can retire.

It happens all the time. You plug your numbers into a free tool, see a massive $3 million target, and assume early retirement is off the table. But those spreadsheets don't know your actual lifestyle, your family goals, or if you're open to a few years of light consulting like Fergus was.

Once we built an escape plan around his real spending, leaving the 9-5 at 58 wasn't just possible—it was a reality.

Have you ever been spooked by the number an online calculator gave you?

Nostalgia is great for movie night, not your life savings. 📼

We all miss the days of popping in a VHS tape, but let's be real—technology moved on. The same goes for your investments. If you're still relying entirely on mutual funds, you might be paying 1980s-level fees while missing out on modern growth strategies.

What's one piece of retro tech you secretly wish was still around? (Besides your mutual funds, of course!) Drop it in the comments.

Still using the same financial advisor your parents used?

It's a lot like trying to make a call on that mustard-yellow rotary phone. It got the job done back in 1985, but things look a little different now. Your money needs a modern strategy, not a dusty dot-matrix printout.

Confession time: what is the hobby you would dive into if you never had to clock in again?

We all have that one thing. Maybe it is painting abstract art on the deck in your favorite business slacks (ruining them in the process 🎨). Maybe it is opening a bookstore that makes absolutely zero money.

At OnPoint, we help people figure out exactly when they can make work optional, so they can finally focus on the fun stuff. You don't have to wait until you are 65 to start planning for your wildly unprofitable passions.

Take our free assessment at myretirementscore.ca to see how close you are to making it a reality. What is your dream unprofitable gig?

Did you know the government is giving away up to $90,000 in matching grants?

Just like the sign says, the real secret to an RDSP (Registered Disability Savings Plan) is the match. The government actually steps in with up to $90,000 in grants and bonds to help Canadians with disabilities build their savings. It’s one of the best financial tools out there, but so many people miss out on it.
