Members of our Montréal team recently attended a charitable pickleball event hosted by (which we were very proud to sponsor!) – the National Bank Dek Hockey / Pickleball Cup. Over 200 participants attended, and the event successfully raised $40,000 for local charities in the Laval, QC region. 🧡

The team proudly wore their Payworks jerseys throughout the tournament and noted that the day gave them the opportunity to make several great connections in the community!

Let’s talk about payroll frequency, shall we?

First of all: what IS payroll frequency? According to the Payroll Institute, pay frequency is defined as the specific and consistent interval at which an employer pays wages to employees.

Within Canada, there are a number of pay frequency options that an employer can choose from (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly), depending on their jurisdictional requirements.

It’s not as simple as just picking a frequency out of a hat, though – there are benefits and drawbacks depending on each type, and it’s up to the employer to determine the best option that works for their employees and their business (while still adhering to the legislative parameters).
Employers can also choose to change their pay frequency once their business is well established. If their previous frequency no longer meets the needs of the employees and the business, it can be adjusted – but a few steps need to be taken first (ROEs are a biggie in this situation!).
