Can you actually switch off on holiday?
A few honest questions for business owners before you pack your bags this summer:
→ Could your business run for two weeks without a single message from you?
→ If a client called tomorrow, does someone else know exactly what to say?
→ Would anything grind to a halt if you weren't reachable?
If the answers made you wince a bit — you're not alone. Most owners we work with started out as the person who did everything, and somewhere along the way, "everything" never got handed off.
Here's the thing: building the systems to change that always feels like the worst possible time. You're busy. It's easier to just do the thing yourself than to write it down so someone else can. So it never quite gets done — and the business stays dependent on you being switched on, all the time.
But the business owners that can relax on holiday aren't the ones with less going on. They're the ones with a bit more structure underneath:
✓ Clear processes, so decisions don't all sit with one person
✓ The right information, visible to the right people, when they need it
✓ You involved because something genuinely needs your judgement — not because you're the only one who knows how anything works
That's not extra admin for its own sake. It's what gives you back control — and the clarity to know your business can hold steady without you carrying it every single day.
So — could you actually switch off this summer? If not, what's the one process that would make the biggest difference?
