From Monday, 26 January 2026, Uber is making changes to its pricing structure in London. As a result, TfL-licensed Uber drivers may be able to earn more if they are registered for VAT, depending on individual circumstances.

Do you need to do a Self Assessment tax return?

You might need to if you:

✅ Have earned more than £1,000 through a side-hustle.
✅ Are newly self-employed.
✅ Rent out a property.
✅ Use cryptoassets.
