📢 You may have received an email from Companies House about changes to annual accounts filing... but there's no need to panic.
I've had a few clients get in touch after receiving the recent communication, so we wanted to provide some reassurance.
The changes won't come into effect until 1 April 2028, so there is plenty of time before anything changes.
The main updates include:
✔ Small companies and micro-entities will be required to file a profit and loss account with Companies House.
✔ Annual accounts will need to be filed using commercial software rather than the current web or paper filing methods.
The good news? Smaller companies will be able to opt out of having their profit and loss account published on the public register, with further details to follow.
Most importantly, nothing changes for now. You don't need to take any action today, and there is still plenty of time before these reforms come into force.
As always, I'll keep you updated as more guidance is released and make sure you're fully prepared well before the changes take effect.
If you have any questions after receiving the Companies House email, please don't hesitate to get in touch, I'm always happy to help.
