Office upgrades pending!

We are lucky to be in the fortunate position of expanding into our existing office space a little bit more - something that has been on our to do list for a while!

Completing some DIY work such as painting, tiling and having a clear out will give way to:
✅ A better working environment for our staff
✅ No more desk sharing and having more space as a result
✅ Nicer place for making that afternoon coffee or cup of tea - something we take very seriously! 🤣

Recieving an email from HMRC, and being told you need to verify your identity with Companies House can be a surprise to some of our Clients, especially if they weren't expecting it.

We've broken down what this letter means, and what you need to do if you recieve it - i.e nothing because Companies House will get the information from us instead, as you are a client of ours.

Things we will need from you if we were to start working together:

Personal tax:
1. Name, date of birth, address
2. Form where you can submit your actual unique tax information (National Insurance number, UTR number, copy of your ID, and any other relevant documents)

Limited companies:
1. Company registration number, Company UTR number, basic director details
2. Third party form for the ID verification, following Companies House rules which is easily submitted to HMRC

How to find our Amity Accountancy offices in Catfield? 🤔

Make sure to save this if you're visiting us on Catfield Industrial Estate. It can be easy to get a little lost, so we made this video to help you on your way.

1. Look for the black Trend Marine sign, or the cafe on the corner.
2. Turn into the junction and drive up to the big yellow gate, by our business logo and Broadland Self-Storage.
3. Ring the bell so that Emma or another staff member can let you in.
4. Once the gate is open, drive through and round to the right of the building where you'll see other parked cars.
5. Go up the stairs, and one of our staff will be waiting to welcome you into our meeting room.

MTD Self-Assessment explained 👇🏼

MTD stands for Making Tax Digital, which is a new scheme that started in April 2026 by HMRC. We did our first one earlier this year which was a huge milestone, after spending so much time preparing and it all went very well!

What business owners need to know about it now?
- Turnover is £50,000 or more based on the turnover that was declared in the 2024/2025 tax return. You will have had to submit a self-assessment in April 2026.

- This is for self-employed people with rental properties, but doesn't involve partnerships at the moment.

- With MTD, there will be quarterly tax returns instead of annual ones.

- The MTD assessment doesn't include accounting adjustments, as that's something that we would do at the end of the year in the final declaration.

We hope this clears up any confusion you may have had about the process, we know it can be very confusing this accounting jargon. 😅

Had a great time at last week’s Buy Local Norfolk networking event. It was a great opportunity to meet new people, make new connections and be inspired by everyone’s experiences and ideas.
