What a day at Circle Networks Live! Inspiring talks, brave stories from fellow members, and finally hugging the people I usually only see on Zoom. This community proves friendship really does fuel business.

The highlight? Accepting 2 awards the Friendship Fuels Business award with Paul McGowan (missed you, Luke!), then New Start Up Business of the Year too.

🐾 New team member incoming: Introducing Cooper!

Meet Cooper, our new office companion, emotional support animal, and expert paper shredder.

At just 11 weeks old, this Border Terrier has already taken a keen interest in document destruction and morale boosting around the office.

💡 Tax Tip: Can we claim Cooper’s food as a business expense if he’s carrying out the very important task of destroying sensitive documents?

Unfortunately, no.

For an expense to be tax deductible, it must be wholly and exclusively for the purposes of the business. To claim a dog’s costs, you’d need evidence that the dog is genuinely working and not primarily a family pet.

HMRC is likely to challenge claims where there’s mixed business and personal use.

So whilst Cooper may be earning his keep, his treats and dinner are staying off the accounts!

We’ve had a refresh at Beyond Accounting.

New logo. New look. Same approach to accounting: straight-talking advice, no fluff, no nonsense.

The logo’s got a rising sun and a mountain. Because who wants another super corporate, bland logo?

The sun’s about opportunity, because every day’s a chance to move your business forward.

The mountain’s about the reality of actually doing it, because it’s not always easy, and pretending otherwise helps no one.

That’s basically what we’re about at Beyond Accounting: helping you make the most of the good bits and navigate the hard bits.

Nothing else has changed. We’re still the same team, still doing things the same way.

If you’ve been thinking about working with an accountant who actually gives a straight answer and wants to help you navigate those hard bits, now’s a good time to get in touch.

It also a good time to tell me you like the new logo. And it’s a really good time to drop 👏 and 🔥 in the comments

Anyway, hope you love it as much as we do!

(P.S. Huge thanks to at .mustard for his help on this one! 🧡)

Honoured to have been invited by AAT to join a panel at Accountex London.

I’m excited to be speaking on re-defining leadership success, a topic that’s becoming more important than ever as our profession continues to evolve.

Looking forward to sharing ideas, hearing different perspectives, and connecting with others in the industry.

Two years in business today 🎉

Honestly, I couldn’t be more grateful. We have the best clients, the kind of people who make the hard work genuinely worthwhile every single day.

And to top it off, I couldn’t ask for a better staff member… who turned up with cake to celebrate! 🎂

Thank you to everyone who’s supported the journey so far. Here’s to what comes next.

✨ Christmas celebrations & a moment to reflect ✨
What a crazy year it’s been! I started 2025 as a one-man band, and we’re ending it as a team of four 🧡

I’m beyond grateful for everyone who’s supported the business along the way. A huge thank you to our amazing staff, loyal clients, and incredible referrers. We truly couldn’t do this without you.

Here’s to an even bigger and better 2026 🥂✨
