* From 1 April 2028, all UK companies must file annual accounts using approved software (paper and web filing for accounts will end).
* Small companies and micro-entities will also have to submit profit and loss accounts to Companies House.
* They can choose not to make those profit and loss accounts public (details to come later).
* The start date has been delayed from 2027 to 2028, giving companies 21 months to prepare.
* If you already file through accounting software or an accountant, you may not need to do anything.
* If you currently file manually, youβll need to get suitable software, a Companies House presenter account, and be ready to file electronically by 1 April 2028.
Bottom line: UK company accounts filing is becoming fully digital, and smaller companies will have to provide more financial information to Companies House, though they can keep profit and loss details off the public register.
