A simple question.

> Are you actually on track for retirement?

Not hopeful. Not guessing. Not assuming.

On. Track.

Do you know:
• your current pension value?
• your target retirement income?
• whether your contributions are sufficient?

Most people haven’t done the maths.

Clarity creates confidence.

If you’re unsure, that’s usually the first sign it’s worth reviewing.

“I’ll focus on pensions later”

Sound like you?

Just one of the myths towards pensions you should stop believing.

“Later” means less time for your money to compound, £10 this year could be £11 next year and so on…

➡️ “My workplace pension is probably enough”

➡️ “Pensions are inflexible”

➡️ “I don’t understand pensions so I’ll ignore them”

➡️ “High income means I’ll be fine”

You may not feel “old enough” to deal with a pension now, but the day you start working is the day you’re old enough to start saving for retirement. The earlier you start, the easier it is.

If you do have a pension - have you reviewed it recently?

ISA vs Pension - what’s the difference?

Pensions
• tax relief on contributions
• designed for retirement
• access typically from minimum pension age

ISAs
• no tax relief on contributions
• tax-free growth
• flexible access

Pensions = tax efficiency for long-term retirement

ISAs = flexibility and accessibility

For many people, it’s isn’t *either / or*

It’s structured planning

Do you know how yours are structured?

I’m back!

But where have I been? 🤔

So some of you may have noticed I’ve not been positing on my business socials very much.

The last 2 years I’ve been working away in the background towards becoming *Chartered* and I can finally announce that I have successfully achieved just that 📣

Thank you to the few of you that knew about this in the background and checked in throughout. It’s been a slog, but feels euphoric to have completed it 👏

For those of you good with dates, yes I was qualifying whilst also planning a wedding 🤷‍♂️🫠😂 (wouldn’t recommend) and we may have held off on our honeymoon due to exams and coursework but we will be finally enjoying a well deserved one this year.

So yeah, that’s the life update - hope everyone is well!

Planning for retirement not at the forefront of your mind? 🤷‍♂️

Here are a few reasons as to why maybe it should be…

💰

The average person will have 12 jobs in their lifetime, changing roughly every 4 years.

🤔 Question: Do you know where your first pension was held?

What about your second?…

(You get my point)

Having multiple pensions from different jobs held by different providers can make it difficult to know what financial position you’re in when the time of retirement does come around.

💰

Pensions are also one of THE most tax efficient ways of saving.

So if you’re not in the mindset of thinking of retirement, think of it as just another savings pot to look forward to in later life…

It’s been 1 week since the Chancellors Spring Budget 💼

But how does it effect you? 🤔

The budget can be overwhelming 🤯 there’s a lot of information put out on that day. But, as always, I’ve broken it down into smaller bites!

👉 NI is being reduced 2%

👉 £5k ISA allowance with new Great British ISA

👉 Full Child Benefit threshold raised to £60k - partial up to £80k

👉 Capital Gains tax on rentals / 2nd properties reduced by 2%

The mortgage market in 2023 was like a roller coaster with rates in the UK reaching a 15-year high. How is 2024 looking? Let's take a look.
