Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is no longer something to deal with later. It starts from 6 April 2026. ๐๐ป
HMRC says sole traders and landlords with more than ยฃ50,000 of qualifying income from self-employment and property will need to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates from that date.
Recognised software will also be required, which makes bookkeeping and software setup much more important in 2026. ๐งพ
For sole traders, landlords and growing businesses, this means:
1. Keeping digital records
2. Using recognised software
3. Preparing quarterly updates
4. Staying organised throughout the year
5. Reducing last-minute tax stress
It is not just about filing a return anymore. It is about keeping records in the right format throughout the year. โ
Asmat & Co supports businesses with bookkeeping, tax returns, VAT, payroll, company accounts and sole trader accounting. ๐
