☀️ This summer we held an internal photo competition around the theme of sun, sea and sand.

Taking time away from work to switch off, recharge and enjoy ourselves is an important part of a healthy work-life balance, so we wanted to celebrate where the summer months had taken our team.

Our winning photo came from Mair, who captured a fantastic view towards the sea, coastline and forest while on holiday in Thailand 🌊🌴

Where did your summer take you?

Some of our team recently went along to support our colleague Julie McGlashan, who was performing with the Harmony Singers.

🎶 The local singing group has raised more than £65,000 for charities and good causes since it began, making a real difference to organisations and communities along the way.

It was great to support Julie and enjoy the concert while also getting behind a fantastic local group doing so much good.

💯 As we continue looking back through the history of Williams Denton during our centenary year, we come to an important chapter in the early 1980s and the arrival of Peter Denton.

Before joining the practice, Peter had worked for Price Waterhouse and later as a lecturer at Caer Rhun Hall, the chartered accountants’ training centre in the Conwy Valley.

📅 In 1983, Peter joined Cecil Williams as a partner and the practice became Cecil Williams Denton & Co, bringing the Denton name into the firm for the first time.

The years that followed were a period of significant growth. In 1985, the practice acquired Senogles & Co in Menai Bridge, doubling the business in terms of turnover and staff numbers. That same year also saw the opening of an office in Llandudno, establishing a presence that remains an important part of Williams Denton today.

Peter continued to play a key role as the firm developed over the following decades, through further acquisitions, new partners and eventually the incorporation of Williams Denton Cyf in 2002.

After 34 years with the practice, Peter retired on 7 April 2017. His contribution forms an important part of the Williams Denton story and of the firm we know today.

💯 As part of our 100 Acts of Kindness theme for our centenary year, members of the Williams Denton team headed to Aber Falls earlier this week to take part in a litter pick. The group collected 17.5kg of litter and recyclable material

Aber Falls is one of North Wales’ best-known beauty spots, enjoyed by thousands of local people and visitors each year. We were pleased to spend some time helping to keep the area clean and looking its best.

A simple act, but one that makes a difference to a place we’re lucky to have on our doorstep.

👋 Meet the names behind the numbers.

As part of our staff profile series we are taking a closer look at the people behind Williams Denton and getting to know a little more about them, both in and outside of work.

🙎‍♀️ Next up is Kelly Roose, one of our Senior Client Managers, who has been part of Williams Denton for 16 years.

❓ What’s your role at Williams Denton, and how long have you been with the firm?

I’m a Senior Client Manager and I’ve been with the firm for 16 years.

❓ How did you get into the world of accountancy?

I took a year out before going to university and was lucky enough to get a job at Bangor University, where I was enrolled straight onto ACCA. I completed my ACCA in two and a half years and qualified in 2007.

❓ Are there any memorable moments or milestones during your time at WD that stand out?

I’ve been lucky enough to work in both of our offices. I originally started in the Llandudno office in 2009 and then transferred to the Bangor office after having my second daughter in 2018.

❓ What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Spending time with my family and making memories with my two young daughters. We love horse riding together and having outdoor adventures with the dogs.

❓ What’s something your colleagues might not know about you?

When I was younger, I represented Wales competing in the 400m hurdles.

❓ Where is your dream holiday destination?

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Australia twice and I absolutely love it there. It’s definitely my dream holiday destination!
