You might think it is an honour to be chosen as the executor for someone’s will but think again! Being an executor is a job for life and is often a difficult and time-consuming position.

Today is Shrove Tuesday – AKA Pancake Day. As households across the UK gear up to create their favourite masterpiece with toppings galore let's take a look at variations from around the world. Wherever you go, you’re likely to find some version of the humble pancake, just with a specific cultural twist… here's four of our faves below.

🇫🇷 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 – 𝗖𝗿ê𝗽𝗲𝘀

Thin and delicate crêpes are unavoidable throughout France… which is a good thing, believe us! Savoury or sweet, they can be topped with just about anything, but popular choices include ham and cheese (obviously – this is France after all!)

Everywhere you turn in Thailand, you’ll find countless street-food vendors selling all manner of delicious dishes, with roti being the most popular sweet treat. A kind of crispy pancake, it’s cut into small squares, drizzled with condensed milk and sprinkled with sugar. So be prepared for a sugar rush!

🇯🇵 𝗝𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗻 – 𝗢𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝘆𝗮𝗸𝗶

Okonomiyaki loosely translates to ‘what you like, grilled’ and is a Japanese savoury pancake, typically made from a flour base combined with a mixture of shredded potato, cabbage, seafood or pork belly, ginger and soy. The dish originated in Osaka and Hiroshima and you can garnish with toppings of your choice and drizzle over a sweet mirin and honey sauce, or just mayonnaise.

Mental and physical incapacity can happen at any time. You might have thought that a spouse or family member would instantly gain control of your finances and wellbeing, but this isn’t the case…

Unless you establish a Power of Attorney, the Court of Protection will look to appoint a Deputy for you.
