⛳ What a fantastic Charity Golf Day!

On 26th August 2026, we had the pleasure of bringing everyone together at Crane Valley Golf Club for our Charity Golf Day in support of the SJP Foundation: https://www.sjpfoundation.co.uk/

It was a brilliant day of golf, good company, plenty of laughs, and, most importantly, raising money for some incredibly worthy causes. 🙌

Thanks to the generosity of everyone who took part, supported the event and donated prizes, and with St. James's Place matching every pound, we’re delighted to have raised over £4,000 for charity! 🎉

A huge thank you to all of our fantastic raffle prize donors for their generosity and support. Thank you again to everyone who attended, helped out and donated - we really appreciate you helping to make the day such a success! 🏌️‍♀️🏌️‍♂️⛳

One of the best career decisions Lee Walker ever made wasn’t actually his. It was his mum’s.

Lee left school at 16 and started work with a local fencing business, where he learnt early lessons about hard work, earning trust and looking after customers.

He thought he might eventually follow his father into insurance. Instead, his mum Mary spotted an admin job at Halifax, and changed the direction of his career.

Lee went from mortgage admin to mortgage adviser, becoming one of Halifax’s youngest Financial Services Managers before progressing into senior management.

Years later, he left the security of a large organisation to start Walker Wealth Management. There were no clients waiting, and it took six months to onboard the first.

Today, that business is Walker & Co Financial Planning, with a fantastic team and clients we think of as friends.

The name may have changed, but the philosophy hasn’t: listen carefully, understand what matters and help people see what’s possible.

We're delighted to welcome George Scott to the Practice as our new Financial Planning Manager.

Having moved away from advising clients directly, George will be working alongside our team of advisers, helping to ensure every client and their family continues to receive the outstanding service, care and financial planning experience we're proud to deliver.

As well as supporting our advice team in providing the very best outcomes for clients, George will play an important role in the continued development of the practice as we grow and evolve.

That came around quickly! On 26 August, we are hosting our annual Charity Golf Day at Crane Valley Golf Club in Verwood. 🏌

Just in its second year, this relatively new event on the Walker & Co calendar brings together clients, professional connections and members of the advice team for a packed day.

It’s fundraising, networking and time away from the office to raise funds for St. James's Place Charitable Foundation. We can’t wait!

The drinks buggy seemed to be a big hit last year riding around the course raising money for charity!

Let’s hope the good weather continues!

As advisers, we know only too well how sensible it is to establish good money habits at a young age. They set you up for life!

With this in mind, Lee, Peter and Emma headed off to Lytchett Minster School recently to help local students better understand the basics of budgeting and long-term planning.

The team last visited the school in July 2025, and returned to catch up with Year 9 students (age 13–14).

Our workshops covered five key areas:
• Personal finances and saving
• Budgeting
• Borrowing
• Staying safe online
• Planning for the future, including pensions and tax

If you think this would be valuable at your children's school or within another organisation, we'd love to hear from you. If we can help the next generation feel more confident and informed about money, that's a positive step towards building important life skills and preparing young people for the future.

Another fantastic Business Owner Breakfast! ☕👏

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Hotel Du Vin in Poole for our latest Business Owner Breakfast. It was a brilliant morning of networking, sharing ideas and having honest conversations about the opportunities and challenges facing local businesses.

We were delighted to hear from our guest speakers, including HR whizz Parysa Hosseini-Sech from People Era, Matthew Brown from RAM Capital Partners, and Matthew Birley, former director of Lifetime Connections Wealth Management. They all shared valuable insights and sparked some great discussions.

This was our third Business Owner Breakfast since launching the series in June 2025, and once again it was fully booked. We're incredibly grateful to everyone who attended – including those who travelled from further afield to be with us.
