📣 A little Self Assessment reminder! 📣
If you complete a Self Assessment tax return, your payment on account is usually due by the end of this month. 💷
Have you logged into your HMRC account recently to see what's due? If not, it's worth taking a look so there are no surprises.
While I'm here, it's also a good time to start thinking about your next Self Assessment tax return.
As many of you know, it's just me behind the scenes, juggling deadlines and looking after all of my lovely clients. ❤️ Because of that, I like to schedule work in advance and I usually need at least two weeks' notice for Self Assessment returns.
Getting in touch early helps me make sure I can give your return the time and attention it deserves, without having to rush.
If you'd like some help with your next Self Assessment, or you're not sure where to start, just pop me a message—I'd love to help! 😊

📢 A timely reminder as Making Tax Digital quarterly reporting gets underway...
The number of people who still think the tax year runs from January to December might surprise you!
In reality, the UK tax year runs from 6 April to 5 April.
It may seem like a small detail, but with more frequent reporting under Making Tax Digital, getting your dates right is more important than ever. Using the wrong period could mean inaccurate submissions, confusion, and extra work further down the line.
So if you're getting your records organised, preparing figures, or thinking ahead to your next submission, make sure you're working to the tax year and not the calendar year.
One small difference in dates can make a big difference to your reporting.

🚨 Things that arrive when you least want them:
📦 A flat-pack wardrobe with missing instructions
🌧 Rain on a bank holiday
📬 A brown envelope from HMRC
The first two are annoying.
The third can be expensive.
That's why keeping your finances organised and up to date has never been more important.
Whether you're self-employed, a landlord, running a limited company or just want to make sure you're not paying more tax than necessary, I can help.
No jargon.
No judgement.
No panic.
Just straightforward advice to help you stay on the right side of HMRC and make smarter financial decisions.

I've been asked this question several times recently:
"Can HMRC check my bank account?"
The simple answer is yes, HMRC has powers to obtain banking information as part of compliance checks and investigations.
Whether you agree with that or not, it's a reminder of why good record-keeping is so important.
If money is coming into your account from self-employment, property income, online sales, side hustles, or other taxable sources, you should be able to clearly identify where it came from and how it has been reported.
The good news? Most HMRC issues can be avoided by staying organised and keeping accurate records throughout the year.
How I can help:
✅ Bookkeeping and record keeping
✅ Self Assessment tax returns
✅ Limited company accounts and tax returns
✅ VAT returns and compliance
✅ Support with HMRC enquiries and correspondence
✅ Helping you stay compliant and avoid costly mistakes
If you're unsure whether your records are up to scratch, send me a message and let's have a chat.

🔍 HMRC Is Seeing More Than Ever Before
Are Your Records Ready? 📊

Many people don't realise that HMRC is now receiving more information from online selling and service platforms than ever before.

Whether you sell items online, offer freelance services, rent out property, or earn extra income through digital platforms, it's becoming increasingly important to keep accurate records and understand your tax responsibilities.

This isn't about catching people out. It's about ensuring income is reported correctly and helping people stay compliant.

✨ A little organisation now can save a lot of stress later.

If you're unsure whether your income needs to be declared, or you'd like some guidance on keeping your records in order, I'm always happy to help.

📩 Feel free to send me a message for a friendly, no obligation chat.

☀️ I may be hiding inside today and taking a couple of days off for half term 😅… but I’m still here if the heat has started melting your bookkeeping.
Don’t let the sunshine fool you into thinking:
📊 the accounts will sort themselves out
🧾 the receipts will magically organise themselves
💸 or those numbers suddenly “look about right” 😂
You can still message me and book an appointment while you enjoy the sunshine before the rain returns 🌦️

One of the biggest things I hear from self-employed clients is:
“I thought I’d be fine until it came to the bookkeeping and tax side of things.”
Because nobody really tells you how much comes with it.
Keeping records organised.
Knowing what you can claim for.
Remembering deadlines.
Understanding HMRC letters.
Trying to stay on top of everything while running a business at the same time.
That’s where I can help.
I work with self-employed people and small businesses to make bookkeeping, self assessments and tax returns feel less stressful and much easier to manage.
✔ Clear advice
✔ Support when you need it
✔ No confusing jargon
📩 Feel free to message me if you need help or have questions about the finance side of your business.

🚨 Something many company directors still don’t realise… 🚨

You can no longer submit a Corporation Tax return (CT600) directly to HMRC using their old online service.

This now means:
✔️ Commercial software is needed to file CT600s
✔️ Existing systems often need upgrading
✔️ Software package prices have increased for many businesses and agents

As someone who helps clients complete and submit their accounts and Corporation Tax returns, I’m still finding that many people are unaware of these changes until their year end arrives.

Unfortunately, it’s another added cost for small businesses trying to stay compliant.

If you’re unsure what’s needed for your next filing, feel free to get in touch — I’m always happy to help point people in the right direction 😊

Business owners, quick question…..
Are your accounts actually up to date?
Or have you opened your banking app recently and thought “that balance does not look right” 👀

If you’re not completely sure what’s been paid, what’s outstanding, what you owe, or how much you can actually spend, you’re definitely not alone.
When you’re busy running a business, the accounts can quickly become something you “sort later” until the numbers start feeling a bit confusing.

That’s where I can help!

I work with businesses of all sizes to get finances organised, up to date, and easy to understand so you can feel confident in what’s coming in, what’s going out, and where the business actually stands.
If your accounts are feeling messy, behind, or harder to manage than they should be, send me a message.

Just a little note from me 😊
I’m lucky to work with a wonderful mix of clients, which means my time is shared across a number of projects… and as much as I’d love to, there’s still only one of me (no cloning just yet! 😄)
I always aim to respond and deliver as promptly as possible, while making sure everything is completed to a high standard and in full compliance. Quality and accuracy will always come first.
If something is urgent, please feel free to drop me a message and I’ll do my best to prioritise it. Otherwise, work is carefully scheduled, especially around key deadlines like HMRC submissions.
I’m also currently expanding my skills with further HR training, as I receive a lot of queries across the board in this area, so I can support not just your finances, but your team and workforce too.
Thank you for your patience and for trusting me with your business 💛
