The Bank of England has voted to leave Base Rate unchanged at 3.75% despite rising inflation figures. The rate has remained at this level since December 2025.

The vote this month was split 6:3 with six members voting to hold rates and three voting for an increase compared to a 7:2 split at the last vote.

For the first time since September 2009 our household doesn't have anybody back for their first day of term!

Instead I'll have to settle for my first mortgage offer of the month, for an application submitted yesterday for a couple buying a second / holiday home in another part of the country. A great start to the month.
