11 years as a business owner!

This time last year we celebrated 10 years of Premier Tax Solutions… and in just one year, so much has happened.

As a business owner, you sometimes forget how much can change in 12 months when you’re in the day to day.

So much of being in business is always looking ahead to the next goal, but moments like this remind me how
important it is to stop and reflect too.

11 years of learning, challenges, business growth, and building businesses I’m really proud of. And for me, it’s not just been about building businesses.

It’s also been about building a life I can really enjoy with my family, and being able to enjoy those life moments because I’ve built the foundations to do so.

And I think that’s something not enough people talk about in business. Success isn’t just what you build in your business… it’s what that business allows you to build in your life too.

When business owners come to me, sometimes it’s for very specific challenges. In this case, the focus was on how to grow her business financially.

She had a clear goal, to reach the six-figure mark in her first year. And the amazing thing is… she did.

With my background in accountancy we worked on the financials in the background alongside real life experience of running a business and staff to create a pathway for her to reach the six figure mark.

By putting the right plan in place, she achieved her goal and is now absolutely smashing it.

I support clients across many different areas of business too, whether it’s work-life balance, finding the right clients, managing growth, or putting the right systems in place to help their business move forward.

It’s Mother’s Day! 💛

Here are my two babies (one 2… and one not so little anymore!).

Today I’m enjoying a family day. Being a mum is something I never take for granted. It definitely has its challenges, but it’s also one of the best feelings in the world.

Career goals and business achievements are amazing, but nothing beats seeing their smiles and watching them grow.

I also know today can be difficult for some people. If that’s you, take it easy today, this day isn’t the same for everyone, and that’s okay. I hope you’re able to find a little peace and rest today.

How to Have a Fresher Mindset in February 🌷

Finally, January (which felt like it had 99 days!) is over. And with the tax return deadline landing at the end of the month, last week was incredibly busy for me and the team at Premier Tax Solutions Limited as we worked hard to get all our clients’ returns completed on time.

But now January is behind us, it feels like the perfect time for a mindset reset. January is always a hectic month for me, it’s just the nature of my business, but when speaking to many of my coaching clients, a lot of them felt like they came back into work with a grey cloud hanging over them.

To-do lists left unfinished before Christmas suddenly felt overwhelming, and the pressure of starting a new year added to that weight many business owners were already carrying.

Now, though, we have an opportunity to reset. The days are getting lighter (we’ll gain almost two extra hours of daylight by the end of February!), and those long January to-do lists are finally starting to settle. This is the time to refocus, set clear goals, and think about what’s next for you and your business.

Why Connections Are One of the Most Important Things in Business

One thing I always keep as a top priority when running a business is connections, your business community really does matter. I can’t stress enough how important it is to put yourself out there, network, and maintain those relationships.

Firstly, as the saying goes, it is who you know. From a business perspective, word of mouth is incredibly powerful and can naturally bring in leads and opportunities. And even in such an online world, there’s still a huge pull towards in-person networking, people buy from people.

Secondly, being part of a community is so important, especially if you run your business on your own. There will always be someone else offering something similar to you, but instead of seeing them as competition, there’s so much value in learning from each other, sharing ideas, and talking through the struggles.

Having sounding boards, support, and people who get it makes such a difference.
