This wasn’t meant to be made for financial planning content… it was supposed to be for latest world cup video (big shout out to our social media admin Olivia for doing some great things over there).

But I just couldn’t look past the excellent point it could make about having your income properly protected 🤣

(If you haven’t got it sorted, especially if you run your own business, give it some serious thought - you might be surprised how cost effective it is)

No idea where to start? Get some advice šŸ™Œ

I’ll be sad next week when I can’t keep linking everything back to the footy… but I will keep posting useful tips about your money, so follow me if that’s your cup of tea 🫔

Help me out people šŸ‘‡šŸ»

Caption this.

Think pensions.

Think investing.

Think being better protected.

Think planning for the future.

And then link it to blowing up a paddling pool 🤣

I drew a blank… hopefully you’ll do better šŸ˜…

Go! šŸ‘‡šŸ»

There’s little wonder as to why it takes me a while to get through my emails 🤣

Surely other home based business owners out there can relate?!

Money moves… and dance moves. I can do it all people, I can do it all. 🤣

(I do also post serious videos about your money, so follow along if you’d like to see those)

Most couples assume everything would just ā€œwork itself outā€ if something happened to one of them. The reality is, without the right plans in place, it often doesn’t.

Here are a few things worth thinking about…

• Pension Expression of Wish

If you haven’t nominated your partner to receive your pension benefits, are you confident the money would go to the person you want it to? It’s a simple form that many people forget about, but it can make a huge difference.

• Life Insurance

If one of you passed away, would the other be able to afford the mortgage, rent, bills and everyday living costs without your income? Life insurance can provide a lump sum to help protect your family’s financial future.

• Family Income Benefit

Instead of one large payout, this pays a regular monthly income for a set period. If your partner relies on your income each month, would an ongoing payment make life easier than managing a lump sum?

• Critical Illness Cover

A serious illness doesn’t just affect your health - it can affect your finances too. Would you have enough money if you needed time off work, private treatment, home adaptations or simply wanted to reduce financial stress while you focused on recovery?

• Income Protection

Your biggest financial asset is often your ability to earn an income. If illness or injury meant you couldn’t work for months or even years, how would the bills be paid? This is especially important if one of you is the main breadwinner.

Every couple’s circumstances are different, which is why there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. The right protection depends on your income, your family, your mortgage, your savings and the lifestyle you want to protect.

If you’ve never reviewed your financial protection together, it might be time to ask whether you have the right cover in place, or if you’re simply hoping for the best.

I did say I’d be trying to work football references into financial planning videos for the foreseeable… so here’s another one.

Serious message though. The state pension will not provide the kind of retirement you might be hoping for… and it might be getting worse.

Make sure you take control of your own retirement and do it early.

New Prime Minister… will we be better off?

Time will tell, but we could see some changes around:

šŸ’· Income Tax

šŸ” Council Tax

šŸ‘ØšŸ»ā€šŸ’» Employer NI

šŸ’§ Utilities

Or maybe we won’t and it’ll be new face old problems.

Either way, I’ll keep you updated on any changes that come that impact your pocket.
