Financial discipline isn't taught in textbooks—it starts at home. 💰

Growing up in a family of CAs and now raising a 6-year-old while running my practice, I see how much power lies in simply understanding your cash flows. You don't need a finance degree to build wealth; you just need intentionality.

What is one financial habit or lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life? Let’s talk in the comments! 👇

Are you claiming GST Input Tax Credit blindly from your purchase register? ❌

The tax department's automated engines are matching GSTR-3B filings against GSTR-2B in real time. Any mismatch triggers automated recovery notices with interest charges!

📌 3 Golden Rules for GST ITC:

Vendor must file their GSTR-1 on time.

Invoice must reflect in your GSTR-2B.

Reconcile monthly before pushing final numbers in 3B.

📌 By Sept 15, you need 45% of your total estimated tax paid — cumulative, not just this quarter.
📌 The buffer nobody mentions: pay at least 36% by the 15th, and no interest applies for this instalment specifically (only the June and Sept dates get this tolerance — Dec and March don’t).
📌 Full schedule: 15% by June 15 → 45% by Sept 15 → 75% by Dec 15 → 100% by March 15.
📌 Miss any of it → 1% interest per month on the shortfall.
📌 Correction for this year: it‘s no longer Section 234C / 234B. Under the Income-tax Act, 2025, they’re now Section 425 and Section 424. Same math, new numbers.

If your tax liability after TDS crosses ₹10,000 this year, this applies to you — salaried with side income, freelancers, professionals, business owners, all included.

Freelancers/professionals on the presumptive scheme (44AD/44ADA): you‘re exempt from this — you can pay 100% in one shot by March 15.

My turnover is only 9 lakh, I don’t need an audit.” — the sentence that gets people audited.

Here’s what actually triggers it under the presumptive scheme:

📌 44AD (business): declared income below 8% of turnover (cash) or 6% (digital) → audit, even if turnover is under ₹1 crore
📌 44ADA (professionals): declared income below 50% of gross receipts → audit
📌 The real trap: opt OUT of 44AD after using it once, and you’re locked out of the scheme for the next 5 years. If your income exceeds the basic exemption limit in that window — audit is compulsory, regardless of turnover.

Miss it → Section 271B penalty: 0.5% of turnover, capped at ₹1,50,000. Plus a defective return.

This is the trigger that catches small businesses who’ve never even heard of Section 44AB — because they never crossed ₹1 crore and assumed they were safe.

Everyone quotes “₹1 crore” as the tax audit limit. Half the story.

Here’s the full picture for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27):

📌 Business: audit above ₹1 crore turnover — UNLESS less than 5% of your receipts AND payments are in cash, in which case the limit rises to ₹10 crore
📌 Professionals (doctors, lawyers, CAs, consultants, etc.): audit above ₹50 lakh — flat. No digital relief here, whatever anyone tells you.
📌 The ₹75 lakh number floating around for professionals? That’s Section 44ADA (the presumptive scheme), not Section 44AB (the audit trigger). Different section, different purpose — don’t mix them up.

Miss it → Section 271B penalty: 0.5% of turnover, capped at ₹1,50,000.

And the 5% cash test isn’t a one-day check — it’s measured across the entire financial year. Track it from April, not September.

Not sure which limit applies to you? Comment “LIMIT” and I’ll send you a quick checklist. 👇

Interesting, don’t you think?

Most people still think Schedule AL kicks in at ₹50 lakh. It hasn’t — for two years.

A client today was genuinely surprised when I told him he’s exempt from Schedule AL this year — he was still going by the old ₹50 lakh rule, like most people are. Here’s what actually happened: until FY 2023-24, Schedule AL kicked in at ₹50 lakh. From FY 2024-25 onward, CBDT raised that threshold to ₹1 crore (Notification No. 41/2025, dated 30 April 2025) — and it’s stayed there since, including this filing season. That’s your property, jewellery, vehicles, and bank balances, matched against your liabilities. Below ₹1 crore, you don’t need to file this schedule at all.

If you’re still quoting ₹50 lakh, you’re two years behind.

You may have forgotten, but the income tax department hasn’t. That cash deposit, that gift, that property purchase — it’s been sitting silently in your AIS for months now.

Here’s what most people don’t realize: the income tax department isn’t waiting for your ITR to get this information. Big cash deposits, money gifts, property purchases, foreign remittances, credit card expenses — all of it already sits in your AIS, because it connects everything back to your PAN number.

So when the department receives your ITR, it’s basically reconciling the information it already has against what you’re telling them. If there’s a gap, that’s not a maybe-notice — that’s almost guaranteed to be one.

👇 Comment TAX and I’ll send you my booking link if you want help reading and reconciling your AIS before you file.

Doctor, consultant, lawyer, or freelancer earning under ₹75 lakh? You can skip maintaining books of accounts completely.

Section 44ADA lets eligible professionals declare a flat 50% of gross receipts as profit — no books, no audit. The threshold is ₹50 lakh normally, or ₹75 lakh if 95%+ of receipts come through digital payments. Unlike business presumptive schemes, there’s no cash-vs-digital split here — it’s 50%, flat, regardless of how you got paid.

👇 Comment TAX and I’ll send you my booking link to check if 44ADA is right for you.
