There has never been a greater gift for a human but leading a life with purpose and meaning. I feel fortunate to figure out mine through GoalBridge which completed 5 years yesterday - July 28. Helping my clients achieve their financial goals, transforming their financial journey and providing them crystal clarity during the process has been truly rewarding.

A heartfelt gratitude to my family, my loved ones, my clients and well-wishers who have always supported me. Their every word of encouragement and blessing has pushed me to keep going. The journey has not all been roses but the thorns that came along have made me more resilient. I would have not settled for anything less. Because, when you live a life with genuine intent, you just know your heart is in the right place.

As I think about the future and the challenging, yet enthralling journey that lies ahead of me, there are:
• Many more financial plans to prepare
• Many more people to help (especially the ones who really need it)
• Many more lives to make an impact
• Many more years to stay hungry & learn.

Meanwhile, in the present now, I feel simply grateful living this dream!

The ongoing West Asia conflict, inflation fears, a weakening rupee, and economic slowdown chatter have combined to create a steady drip of anxiety for investors – many of whom had grown accustomed to a post-COVID market that mostly went up. Dips were short-lived, portfolios recovered quickly, and equity investing felt almost frictionless.

It created a generation of investors who haven’t truly been tested – who haven’t had to sit with a red portfolio for weeks or months.

That test is now underway. And it’s not just a test of nerves – it’s a test of real risk appetite, as opposed to the theoretical one investors declare on a form. How much volatility can you actually digest? How much red can you tolerate before the urge to “do something” becomes overwhelming?

In personal finance, the biggest leaks rarely come from market crashes.

They come from social obligations dressed up as financial decisions.

An insurance policy continues, not because it is suitable, but because a relative sold it.

A demat account stays open, not because it is needed, but because a family acquaintance helped set it up.

A mutual fund sold by friend/relative lingers in the portfolio, not because it performs, but because exiting it feels awkward.

Individually, these decisions seem harmless. Collectively, they quietly erode your wealth.

It was wonderful interacting with all inquisitive young women who were eager to learn about personal finance. Stock market scams in one form or the other continue to witness an unprecedented rise in India. Scamsters target gullible investors through WhatsApp, Telegram and other social media platforms, luring them with the flashy claims of quick returns. This is despite SEBI’s warnings cautioning investors against unsolicited messages on WhatsApp and other similar groups.

To appear credible and gain trust of investors, the miscreants create fake expert profiles. In many instances, they impersonate SEBI registered investment advisers (RIA), forging their licenses. A recent tactic involves circulating screenshots of SEBI’s official list of RIAs to falsely convince investors that they are dealing with a legitimate, registered professional.

So, how can an investor differentiate between a genuine RIA and an imposter?
