📌 BUSINESS OWNERS: DO YOU KNOW YOUR TAX DEADLINES?
Tax compliance is not just about paying tax, filing on time matters too. Missing a statutory deadline can expose a business to penalties, interest and unnecessary compliance issues.
Here are some important deadlines businesses should keep on their radar:
🔹 CIT (Company Income Tax): Annual company tax returns are generally due within 6 months after the end of the company’s financial year. For a newly incorporated company, special timing rules apply.
🔹 VAT: VAT returns are generally due on or before the 21st day of the following month.
🔹 PAYE: Employers are generally required to remit PAYE on or before the 10th day of the following month.
🔹 Annual Employer Returns: Employers have an annual filing obligation relating to employee emoluments, with the return generally due by 31 January.
And this is why staying updated matters. Nigeria’s tax administration landscape is evolving, with the NRS now providing tax services, compliance resources and updated tax laws through its platforms.
At Astute Finance, we believe compliance should be proactive, not reactive. We help businesses understand their obligations, keep track of statutory deadlines and stay informed about regulatory changes that may affect their operations.
