MAXI CHUKWUDI
Let me tell you a story today about a man called MAXI CHUKWUDI, an elder in a highly cultural village of eastern Nigeria.
Some years ago, I heard a story of a guy who was set to wed his longtime girlfriend, Chidinma. He lived abroad and requested that the wedding be done virtually, he was only interested in a traditional wedding.
Chidinma was from a community in Eastern Nigeria that demanded couples who are to be wedded to be physically present before they can be joined traditionally, and receive the blessings of the elders. This was very compulsory and important.
This was a major hurdle in the plan of this guy, his work schedule would not allow him travel down to Nigeria for a wedding, so he had to find a way around it. He looked for a need in the community and discovered they had issues with electricity, so he bought them a transformer so they can enjoy more stable electricity.
Afterwards, he eventually made his request known to the family, that he wanted to wed chidinma but cannot be physically present, the elders and family leaders felt compelled to accept his request, because they had accepted him as a son that cared for the entire community even when this was against their traditions. So a date was fixed for the traditional wedding and his family represented him.
On the day of the wedding ceremony, while negotiations and dialogue were going on between both families inside the lady's compound, one of the elders of the community by name Maxi Chukwudi stood up in objection to the wedding, he insisted that traditions must be respected, that until the guy appears, they shouldn't continue with the traditional wedding, that the age long practice laid down by their ancestors cannot be put away for someone they cannot see. He was a highly respected elder, and so he got everyone's attention...few minutes after Maxi Chukwudi had spoken, more than 5 elders stood up in rebuttal, asking for Maxi Chukwudi to be quiet, that all the while he had been enjoying stable electricity why did he not remember tradition? the wedding was eventually conducted and concluded, and the family gave out their daughter in marriage, with their blessings.
What's the moral lesson of this story?
Money talks😊
Money has the ability to suspend age long laws, increase your options and chances of a favorable outcome. Always be Money Smart...it pays 😁
When you see money flowing, don't be a Maxi Chukwudi just align yourself.
Happy new month again.
