May nag-share sa’kin na nagsisisi daw siya bakit hindi siya kumuha ng Kaiser. Pinili niya kasi yung mas mura from XX HMO na may sukli pa, kasi akala niya hindi naman siya magkakasakit. Pang-compliance lang daw, para lang may ma-liquidate.

Hindi niya binasa yung coverage. Ngayon, na-admit siya, pero EMERGENCY CARE lang pala yung covered ng HMO niya. Eh kailangan siyang i-admit, so INPATIENT CARE na yun — hindi covered kasi hanggang ER lang ang coverage. Ayun, nagbayad siya ng malaki.

Pag-uwi niya, kailangan pa ng follow-up check-up at labs, which is OUTPATIENT CARE naman. Hindi rin covered kasi nga hanggang ER lang.

Ngayon, sulit ba yung sukli na tinipid niya? Minsan, kailangan talaga natin matuto the hard way. Sana maging wake-up call ‘to sa lahat pagdating sa pagpili ng HMO.

Wag mong tipirin ang sarili mo, kasi hindi mo alam kailan ka magkakasakit o anong emergency ang pwedeng mangyari sa’yo.
