University of the Philippines Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students (UP ALCHEMES) is an academic organization primarily composed of undergraduate students of the Chemical Engineering program of the University of the Philippines, Diliman. It is a non-political and non-sectarian student organization under the College of Engineering of the University, and was founded on 13 January 1999.

UP ALCHEMES would like to congratulate its members and alumni for showcasing their skills beyond engineering.💚

We commend Zoe (Alto), Janella and Kyra (Soprano), Dwyght, Josh, Ehdie, and Jules (Tenor), and Mabi and Renz (Bass) for representing the University of the Philippines Engineering Choir during the Sing, Tarlac, Sing Choral Festival and Competition held last June 16, 2026 in Tarlac City, Tarlac.

The choir bagged numerous awards, including First Place in the Folk Song Category, Third Place in the Musica Sacra Category, and Gold C Diploma in the Mixed Choir Category. In the same competition, they also qualified to the Grand Prix Competition, where they sang against the top performers of the different categories.

All the rehearsals and gigs have finally paid off. May you continue making a difference and breaking free as you continue harnessing your passion in singing!🎶💚

Our national heroes fought not just for the removal of foreign rule, but for the promise of a nation where every Filipino could live freely with dignity and self-determination.

Ang tunay na Pride ay hindi ang mga makukulay na parada, bagkus ito ang matapang na protesta laban sa sistema na patuloy na nagkakait ng proteksyon sa mga Pilipinong bahagi ng LGBTQIA+ community.

Dalawampu't anim (26) na taon na ang nakalipas noong unang inihain ang pambansang anti-discrimination bill (SOGIESC Equality Bill) noong taong 2000, ngunit hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin ito naipapasa bilang isang batas. Ang layon nitong wakasan ang diskriminasyon at pagka-api ng LGBTQIA+ community ay hindi isang propaganda na magbibigay ng “espesyal na pribilehiyo” kundi ito ay isang pambansang kalasag para sa lahat — maging cisgender, heterosequal, o q***r — upang matiyak na walang sinuman ang mapagkakaitan ng karapatan dahil lamang sa kanilang kasarian o pagpapahayag ng sarili.

Ngayong unang araw ng Hunyo, tayo ay tumindig nang may taas noong dignidad at pagpapahayag sa sarili. Walang tunay na pag-unlad sa isang lipunang pumipilit sa pinakamahuhusay nitong utak na magtago sa dilim ng takot at diskriminasyon. Kung kaya’t kami sa UP ALCHEMES, batid namin na ang kahusayang akademiko at siyentipiko ay walang silbi kung ito ay bulag sa katarungang panlipunan.Tumitindig kami nang buong-giting kasama ang buong komunidad ng LGBTQIA+ sa laban para sa tunay na pagkakapantay-pantay.

Pagpupugay, mga bagong Inhinyero ng Bayan!

UP ALCHEMES would like to congratulate and celebrate with its alumni for passing the May 2026 Computer-Based Chemical Engineering Licensure Exam (ChELE)!

Out of 565 passers, 9 are from UP Diliman--3 are Alchemists. We also commend our home department, the Department of Chemical Engineering (DChE), for maintaining a passing rate of 100%.

The time you have spent in achieving this milestone has now finally paid off. May you continue making a difference and breaking free as you take on this new role of being an Engineer ng Bayan.

UP ALCHEMES congratulates its alumni for upholding Academics and Excellence beyond engineering.

We commend Horly for being offered admission to the Juris Doctor program of the University of the Philippines College of Law for AY 2026-2027. This is after passing the Law Aptitude Exam (LAE) and the admission interviews done by the College of Law last March to May 2026.

We applaud Roxanne, August, and Zel for representing the UP Diliman Department of Chemical Engineering in the 1st PIChE-JCL InChElligience Inter-Collegiate Quiz Bee, where they finished as 1st Runner-Up.

Ngayong unang araw ng Mayo, nakikiisa at tumitindig ang University of the Philippines Academic League of Chemical Engineering Students, Inc. (UP ALCHEMES) sa ating mga manggagawang Pilipino sa kanilang panawagang makatarungang sahod at dignidad na trabaho.

Sa kasalukuyan, dugo’t pawis ang inaalay ng ating mga manggagawa. Mula sa sektor ng agrikultura na nagbibigay pagkain sa ating mga mesa hanggang sa sektor ng kalusugan na walang tigil sa pag-alalay para sa ating kaginhawaan, maituturing nga na haligi ng ating lipunan ang ating mga manggagawa. Ngunit tila binabalewala ito ng mga nakatataas—pinagsasamantalahan sa anyo ng mababang sahod at kontraktuwalisasyon.

Ang kanilang dugo't pawis ay hindi lamang salita upang ilarawan ang kanilang sakripisyo, kundi ito'y isang realidad na kinakaharap ng bawat mamamayang Pilipino. Higit pa sa mababang sahod at kawalang seguridad sa trabaho, apektado rin ang ating mga manggagawa sa patuloy na pagtaas ng presyo ng mga bilihin at hindi makataong pampublikong transportasyon. Ang kanilang pagod, gutom, at paghihirap ay kailangang bigyang-pansin.

Habang patuloy na binabalewala ng mga hari ng korporasyon ang kapakanan ng ating manggagawa at habang patuloy na nagbubulsa ng pera ang mga kurakot sa gobyerno, hindi kailanman uunlad ang bansa sapagkat patuloy nitong ginigiba ang haligi ng kanyang lipunan.

Sa pagbibigay-pugay natin sa ating mangagawa ngayong araw, sana ay hindi natin kaligtaan ang kanilang patuloy na laban sa kanilang mga karapatan. Ang tunay na pasasalamat lamang ay makakamit kapag ang ating manggagawa ay buhay at nakatindig.
