This is my brother, Gino. Over the years, he developed his skills in “pagbubutingting,” and to be honest, he became very good at it. He maintains all our vehicles and repairs them whenever necessary.

His opinion matters to me. If he says something needs to be replaced or checked, we have it checked. It is not about blindly following him. I trust him because I know he knows what he is doing. To me, he is an expert, a specialist.

Having him saves me time and gives me peace of mind because I know our vehicles are properly maintained. That is how having a specialist can help you. You do not have to figure everything out on your own.

Today Is a Gift, That’s Why It Is Called the Present

I had my phone repaired and its battery replaced. It is now working, and I am no longer experiencing sudden restarts.

However, while using my phone, I noticed that despite having an internet connection, my apps were not working. I couldn’t access Facebook, Messenger, or even Netflix. I ignored it for days, but eventually, I started wondering why my phone was still not working properly.

While exploring, I noticed that the date was August 25, even though the current date was July 19, 2026. I went to my phone settings and discovered that it was set to August 25, 2022. That was four years ago.

I changed it to the current date, July 19, 2026, and lo and behold, I could finally access Messenger, Facebook, and Netflix.

My phone didn’t function properly simply because it was not set to the present time.

Try it yourself. Change the date on your phone, whether you’re using an iPhone or Android. You will likely experience the same thing.

That hit me hard. Maybe some of us are still trapped in our past experiences whether it is good, bad, or ugly and have forgotten to live in the present. Others are so afraid of what the future might hold that they forget to appreciate what they have today.

Maybe, just like my phone, we cannot function properly because we are not living in the present.

Learn from the past. Prepare for the future. But live your life now.

Today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.
