World Bank Country Director Calls on Chairman FBR

The Country Director of World Bank, Mr. Najy Benhassine along with Mr. Tobias Akhtar Haque (Lead Country Economist), Ms. Irum Touqeer (Public Sector Specialist) and Ms. Eva Liselotte Lescrauwaet (Senior Operations Officer) visited Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) HQs on 19th November, 2024 for a meeting with Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, Chairman FBR and his team to discuss the alignment of initiatives under Pakistan Raises Revenue Project with the FBR Transformation Plan.
The Chairman FBR briefed on the vision of the Government for the transformation of FBR and stressed that the purpose of reforms was revenue growth while facilitating compliance. He highlighted the key reform areas to plug in the gap in tax compliance i.e digitalization initiatives, capacity building of HR, anti-smuggling initiatives and more broad-based tax administration reforms.
Chairman FBR requested the World Bank team for support for the reform initiatives including establishment of the digital enforcement stations, digitalization of supply chain and feasibility studies required for the cited initiatives.
The Country Director of World Bank expressed his support for the revenue mobilization efforts in Pakistan and reiterated that both teams would work together to support the FBR transformation plan activities under the Pakistan Raises Revenue Program.

چیئرمین ایف بی آر راشد محمود لنگڑیال سے ورلڈ بینک کے کنٹری ڈائریکٹر ناجی بیہنسن نے ٹیم لیڈ کنٹری اکانومسٹ ٹوبیاس اختر حق، پبلک سیکٹر سپیشلسٹ ارم توقیر اور سینئر آپریشنز آفیسر ایوا لیزلوٹ لیسکرا ویٹ کے ہمراہ منگل کے روز ایف بی آر ہیڈ کوارٹرز میں ملاقات کی۔ملاقات کے دوران پاکستان ریزز ریونیو پراجیکٹ کے تحت اینی شیٹیوز کو ایف بی آر کے ٹرانسفارمیشن پلان کے ساتھ ہم آہنگ کرنے کے بارے میں بات چیت کی گئی۔
چیئرمین ایف بی آر نے ایف بی آر کی ٹرانسفارمیشن کے حوالے سے حکومت کے وژن سے آگاہ کیا اور بتایا کہ ان اصلاحات کا مقصد محصولات میں اضافہ کرنا اور ٹیکس کمپلائنس میں سہولت فراہم کرنا ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ٹیکس کمپلائنس کے خلا کو پر کرنے کے لیے ڈیجیٹلائزیشن ، انسانی وسائل کی صلاحیت میں اضافہ اور اسمگلنگ کے خلاف اقدا مات سمیت ٹیکس ایڈمنسٹریشن میں وسیع تر اصلاحات کی جارہی ہیں ۔
چیئرمین ایف بی آر نے ورلڈ بینک کی ٹیم سے ان اصلاحاتی ا قدامات کے لیے مزید تعاون کرنے کا کہا جن میں ڈیجیٹل انفورسمنٹ اسٹیشنز کا قیام، سپلائی چین کی ڈیجیٹلائزیشن، اور ان اقدمات کے لیے درکار فزیبلٹی اسٹڈیز شامل ہیں۔
ورلڈ بینک کے کنٹری ڈائریکٹر نے پاکستان میں ریونیو بڑھانے کی کوششوں کے لیے حمایت جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کیا اور کہا کہ پاکستان ریونیو پروجیکٹ کے تحت ایف بی آر کے ٹرانسفارمیشن پلان کی سرگرمیوں میں تعاون کے لیے مل کر کام کریں گے۔
