Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a notification requiring all registered shops to connect with the FBR system within a week. The notification states that all businesses with Point of Sale (POS) machines will be linked with FBR, including hotels, guest houses, marriage halls, and clubs. Inter-city transport, courier, and cargo services will also be mandatory to link.

The notification adds that beauty parlors, salons, and beauty clinics must register with FBR. Businesses like hair transplants, private clinics, dental clinics, and plastic surgeons will also be linked.

According to the notification, laboratories, veterinary clinics, diagnostic centers, X-ray centers, private hospitals, private consultants, healthcare services, health clubs, swimming pools, fitness clubs, and multi-purpose clubs will also have to connect with the tax system.

FBR states that prestigious clubs like Karachi Gymkhana, Royal Palm, Chinab Club, Islamabad Club, and Lahore Gymkhana will be linked with the tax system. Chartered accountants firms and cost and management services providers will also have to connect.

Additionally, schools, colleges, and universities charging monthly fees of Rs 1,000 or more will have to link with the tax system. The notification states that connection with the tax system is a prerequisite under Section 33 of the Income Tax Ordinance, and linked businesses will be required to install POS machines.

FBR has rolled out a new compliance measure by adding *Buyer Verification Status* to *Annexure C* of the monthly sales tax return, marking a significant step toward strengthening transparency and data accuracy.

According to FBR, the newly introduced field will allow taxpayers to verify whether their buyers are active and registered within the system before submitting returns. The move is designed to improve validation of transaction data and reduce mismatches between buyer and seller records.
