Amazon Update
Amazon is facing a new lawsuit in the US related to price increases during the IEEPA tariff period.
The lawsuit alleges that Amazon increased prices on imported products because of tariff costs and did not return those extra charges to customers after the tariffs were later ruled invalid by the Supreme Court.
According to the plaintiffs, Amazon may have the legal ability to recover those tariff-related costs from the US government but has allegedly chosen not to pursue refunds, while consumers continue paying higher prices.
However, experts believe the case could be difficult to prove because Amazon pricing changes constantly based on algorithms, competition, inventory levels, demand, advertising costs, and seller pricing decisions. This makes it challenging to directly link price increases only to tariffs.
It will be interesting to see how this develops. One concern many sellers may have is that while buyers can potentially seek compensation, sellers are still dealing with increased fees and rising operating costs.
