FBR Update (Section 236C Exemption)

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued a new circular on 15 April 2026, replacing the earlier one from 31 March 2026.
According to this update, builders and developers who are taxed under Section 7F and have no other income can get exemption from withholding tax under Section 236C when selling property.

To get this exemption, they need to apply to the Commissioner under Section 159. If the Commissioner does not respond within 7 working days, the IRIS system will automatically issue the exemption certificate.
