As per directions of the Worthy Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Madam Farhat Qayum, and the CIR Cantt Zone, Ms. Naheed Akhter Durrani, the enforcement drive against non-compliant Tier-1 retailers has been further intensified.

During a series of targeted enforcement actions, ACIR Wah Cantt Mr. Awais Azam carried out operations against businesses found violating tax regulations. As a result, four prominent business establishments—including shopping malls, a bakery, and a chemist outlet—were sealed for failure to issue Point of Sale (POS) invoices, which is a mandatory requirement under the applicable tax laws.

These actions reflect the department’s continued commitment to ensuring documentation of the economy and strict adherence to tax compliance by all Tier-1 retailers.

On 13th April 2026, the Worthy Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Ms. Farhat Qayum extended her heartfelt congratulations to officers on their well deserved promotions from ACIR to DCIR. The officers included Deputy Commissioners-IR Ms. Sanober Sultan Khan, Ms. Merwah Hamid, Ms. Iqra Atique, Mr. Osama Shaukat, Mr. Abdullah Baigzada and Ms. Farah Amanullah. As per directions of Worthy Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Madam Farhat Qayum, and Commissioner IR, Jhelum Zone, Mr. Asad Bilal Jehangir, a team of Jhelum Zone led by DCIR Mr. Osama Shaukat sealed a prominent Electronics Outlet and a Motorcycle Dealer in Jhelum on account of non issuance of POS invoices. Penalty amounting to Rs.1,000,000 and Sales Tax default of Rs.1,500,000 has also been recovered.
The department reiterates it's commitment that strict action will continue against businesses found violating tax laws.

*DG (BTB) VISIT TO RTO RAWALPINDI*

Director General (BTB), Ms. Noreen Yaqoob, visited *RTO Rawalpindi* to review the performance and progress of Broadening of Tax Base (BTB) initiatives. She was accompanied by Mr. Muhammad Asghar Khan Niazi, Chief BTB.
She held a detailed meeting with Worthy Chief Commissioner RTO Rawalpindi Ms. Farhat Qayum who was accompanied by CIR Jhelum Zone Mr. Asad Bilal Jehangir, CIR City Zone Mr. Wilayat Khan, CIR Cantt Zone Ms. Naheed Akhtar Durani and officers of DTOs comprising Mufasil Offices (Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Murree) also. She appreciated the overall performance of RTO Rawalpindi.
During the meeting, progress on assigned tasks and strategies for achieving BTB targets were also comprehensively reviewed. The issues and operational challenges faced by the officers were also discussed in detail.
The Director General appreciated the feedback provided by the officers regarding the issues in the Data provided by BTB and BTB dashboard issues. She assured that effective and practical solutions would be devised to address these issues for improved performance. RTO Rawalpindi reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen field operations and intensify efforts to broaden the tax base in line with the objectives of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

On the directions of the Worthy Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Madam Farhat Qayum, and under the supervision of Commissioner Cantt Zone Ms. Naheed Akhtar Durrani and Commissioner City Zone Mr. Wilayat Khan, the enforcement drive against non-compliant Tier-1 retailers is being continued vigorously.

During targeted enforcement operations, DCIR Unit-3 City Zone Mr. Shamsullah Panezai sealed a prominent shopping mall in Kallar Syedan, while ACIR Cantt Zone Mr. Abdullah Baigzada sealed a well-known bakery on Adyala Road, Rawalpindi for failing to issue FBR-prescribed invoices.
The enforcement drive will continue without discrimination to ensure fair taxation and documentation of the economy.

The Inland Revenue Enforcement Network (IREN), *Regional Tax Office Rawalpindi*, carried out the destruction of *729 cartons* of confiscated non-duty paid illicit ci******es at *Kala Gujran Phatak, Jhelum*. The evaded taxes and duties stands at *PKR 48 million*.

The seized goods were confiscated during targeted, intelligence-based enforcement operations aimed at curbing illicit trade, preventing tax evasion, and dismantling illegal distribution networks to safeguard national revenue.

This decisive action reflects the continued commitment of **IREN RTO Rawalpindi** to enforce tax laws effectively, protect legitimate businesses from unfair competition, and ensure the protection of government revenues. The department remains vigilant and resolute in taking firm action against unlawful economic activities.

The destruction activity was witnessed by Worthy Chief Commissioner. During her visit she also inaugurated a **10KW Solar System** at the Jhelum Office, marking a significant step toward energy efficiency and sustainable operations.

The visit concluded with a **Performance Evaluation Meeting** with officers of Jhelum Zone to review progress and reinforce operational priorities.
