Using an overseas document in Thailand is not always as simple as presenting the original.

Death certificates, wills, powers of attorney, marriage certificates and court documents may need to be authenticated, legalised and translated before they can be used here.

Thailand's rules are also changing. From 28 February 2027, the Apostille Convention should simplify the process for many public documents.

Our new guide explains what applies now, what is changing and the common mistakes that can cause delays.

Learn how to authenticate, legalise and translate overseas documents for use in Thailand, including the new Apostille rules from 2027.
