Employers have **until January 31** to issue **W-2 statements**, including any **updates related to overtime wages**.

If you **worked overtime in 2025**, especially significant OT, **do NOT rush to file your W-2 the minute it drops**.

Why?
Because:

* Overtime tax treatment may be updated or corrected
* Employers can issue **corrected W-2s**
* Filing too early = amendments, delays, and headaches nobody asked for

The IRS has officially announced that January 26, 2026 is the opening day of the 2026 tax filing season. That’s when returns officially start being accepted and processed.
