Hmph - some of you are running from a business plan like it's Covid -19 (side-eye).

Business plans do not have to always be complicated. If you are seeking an investor or a loan, then yes it will need to be very thorough.

For everyone else, having a business plan is your road map to YOUR business. Completing one will make you think about things you may not have considered.

If you picked:

A: It's okay. It feels a bit concerning or overwhelming but it's do-able.

B. That's right. You gotta do what's best for you and your business.

C. It's really going to be okay. It won't hurt, pinky promise.

D. Stop it!

Having a separate bank account is important when having a business. Here are a few reasons why:

Better monitor your business finances - keeping your personal finances separate keep better track of what you are spending for both your business and personally.

Ease tax filing - your tax professional will want to know what your business revenue and expenses separated from personal. Splitting the 2 can be difficult after so much time has passed.

Business banking makes it official, look more professional, and it establishes connections at the bank.

As a best practice, around the 15th of the month I write down what I want to accomplish for the following month. I also create content at this time to be sure I am ready to go before the next month.

Planning does not have to be a grand production. As long as you put your thoughts on paper, that's really a great start! As an established business owner, I still use these big Post It Notes and a Sharpie to jot my thoughts down. Sometimes when I am watching TV or scrolling through social media something comes to mind that makes me want to write it down.
