The IRS has issued a warning about the increase in fraudulent letters, phone calls, emails, and text messages targeting taxpayers.

❌ The IRS does NOT threaten arrest, deportation, or police action
❌ The IRS does NOT ask for personal or financial information through text messages or social media
❌ The IRS does NOT send official payment letters with QR codes to verify information or make payments

✅ Always verify notices directly through IRS.gov
✅ Speak with a trusted tax professional before responding or making payments
✅ Do not act out of fear or pressure if you receive a suspicious notice

Many of these scam letters and messages appear very real and urgent, but they often contain fake links, threats, or requests for immediate payment.
