Growth is never by mere chance; it is the result of forces working together! – James Cash Penney

I am so thrilled to share some exciting news, Justin Restmeyer CPA is moving into a new office in Ronkonkoma!

When I started my own CPA firm, my dream was to grow enough to make this my full-time position, not just a side hustle. Throughout the years, many families and small businesses have trusted me with their tax preparation and business planning. Thanks to your support and referrals, that dream is now a reality.

My wife and I are so grateful to each and every one of you. With your continued trust, we’re taking this next step and opening an office where we’ll continue to provide the service you deserve. This growth has been built on strong relationships with clients and small business owners, and I look forward to deepening those connections as I step into this role full-time.

In this season of thanks, I’m especially thankful to all of you, and I can’t wait to welcome you to our new office located at 1461 Lakeland Ave, Bohemia, NY 11716!

I have some very big news I can’t wait to share with you all! Stay tuned for the big reveal šŸ‘€

When to issue a 1099, and the different kindsšŸ¤”

A 1099 form is used to report non-employment income to the IRS. If you pay someone other than an employee for services, you must issue them a 1099 by January 31st. Typically, if you’ve paid someone $600 or more for services, rent, prizes, or other types of income, you are required to issue a 1099. Failing to do so or issuing it incorrectly may result in penalties from the IRS.
It’s important to understand that there are different types of 1099 forms. These are the most commonly issued 1099’s for small businesses.

Ā· 1099-NEC:(The most commonly issued 1099) Reports $600+ payments to independent contractors or freelancers for services.
Ā· 1099-MISC: Reports payments for rent, royalties, or other miscellaneous income.
Ā· 1099-INT: To report interest income for loan payments made to other businesses or individuals.

Businesses must gather all the necessary information from vendors throughout the year to properly issue a 1099, including obtaining a W-9. Typically, you will need the vendor’s correct name, address, and Tax Identification Number (TIN). Lastly, be sure to file the 1099 with the IRS. If you are having any trouble determining which 1099 to issue or if you need to issue be sure to call me to set up an appointment.
