When was the last time you reviewed your estate plan?

Creating an estate plan is an important first step, but it shouldn't be a one-time task. Life changes, tax laws evolve, and outdated documents can create unnecessary complications for you and your loved ones.

In our latest blog, we cover:

• Essential estate planning documents and what they do

• How planning for incapacity differs from planning for the transfer of assets after death

• Common mistakes that can make an estate plan less effective

• Why beneficiary designations, powers of attorney, and trusts should be reviewed regularly

• Questions to ask when evaluating your current estate plan

A periodic review can help determine whether your estate plan still reflects your wishes and current circumstances.

Estate planning is about more than creating documents, it’s about ensuring your wishes are carried out. This overview highlights common mistakes that can derail even well-intentioned plans.

07/01/2026

I’ve sat across from so many couples who have done everything "right". They’ve worked hard, climbed the ladder, and secured a significant stake in their company, all things to be proud of. But I’ve also seen the heartbreak that happens when that stock vests and they realize they haven't planned for the massive tax bill that follows.

When you’re dealing with RSUs, ISOs, or NSOs, you’re managing a complex tax event that often comes with more questions than answers. I’ve seen high earners get bumped into high tax brackets or hit with the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) simply because they didn't time their ISO or NSO exercises correctly. The main problem is that people often “don’t know what they don’t know”.

The complexity of stock compensation shouldn’t stand in the way of your life goals. Whether you’re wondering, “Are we paying thousands more in taxes than we need to?” or “Will we have enough for retirement?”, the objective is to eliminate the fear of making a costly mistake. My approach caters towards solving these problems so you can enjoy your time and earnings without having to stress over the details. That means creating a disciplined plan to diversify your holdings and minimize the IRS’s cut, so you can use that wealth for what matters, whether that's a career pivot, taking a sabbatical, or funding your children's future. You’ve worked hard for that equity; I’m here to assist you in keeping it.
