A full calendar doesn’t mean a full bank account. Sometimes, it means you’re paying for more work before you’ve been paid for the last job.
Say you finish a project today, but your customer has 30 days to pay:
- The supplies are already on your credit card.
- Your software subscription comes out Friday.
- Your subcontractor’s invoice is due next week.
The money coming in and the money going out are on different schedules.
That’s why it helps to review unpaid customer invoices and upcoming bills alongside your bank balance. More sales don’t automatically mean more cash available today.
Busy is good. Knowing what’s been paid and what’s still outstanding is useful, too.
Save this for your next bookkeeping check-in.
