I've owned businesses before I ever became a bookkeeper.
And there's something I understand much better now than I did then:
When you're running a business, the numbers aren't the only thing on your mind.
You're thinking about customers.
Employees.
Bills.
What's coming next.
What you didn't get done yesterday that you need to squeeze in today.
And probably three things you forgot to put on the list. đ
That's one reason I approach bookkeeping the way I do.
Business owners don't need someone to hand them a report full of numbers and expect them to figure it out.
They need someone willing to listen to their problems, answer questions with no judgement, and help them understand what's happening in their business.
Because I've been on the other side of that desk.
And I remember what it feels like to be the one responsible for all of it.
